Billy Strings: Vanguart Orb
Grammy award-winning musician Billy Strings was a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s Thanksgiving edition of The Tonight Show this week wearing a Vanguart Orb. The guitarist is known for his watch collection which focuses on neo-vintage, modern independent timepieces, and high complications. The Vanguart Orb fits perfectly into this segment with its hand-finished flying tourbillon movement that allows the user to alternate between automatic and manual modes. What makes the Orb stand out is its sloped PVD-coated titanium track for the orbital oscillating weight. When in automatic mode, the 2 mm diamond-set orbital weight begins revolving around its track as if it is floating within the timepiece. When the watch is switched into manual mode, however, the weight is locked in place. This timepiece can be found at Material Good in New York for $150,000.
