Ah…the SAG Awards. Where actors come together to celebrate each other’s achievements while telling embarrassing stories of how they broke into the business. What could be better?
It’s never easy to narrow down our favorite jewelry looks from an awards show, but we’ve managed to do it. Here’s just some of the best of the bling from Sunday’s 28th annual SAG Awards.
Best Bracelet: Venus Williams in Gismondi 1754
Is it just us, or does this champion-worthy yellow and white diamond piece look like a bunch of tennis bracelets strung together? Perhaps that’s why tennis star Venus Williams—and image architect Law Roach—selected the Gismondi 1754 design. Williams—who, along with her sister Serena, produced the SAG-nominated movie King Richard, which focuses on her father, their family, and the sport they love so dearly—also wore a stunning pair of $700,000 mixed-cut fancy intense yellow and white diamond earrings from Gismondi 1754, plus one of the brand’s rings. As they say…game, set, match!
Best Rings: Cate Blanchett in Pomellato
We find ourselves asking this every awards season: Is there anything Cate Blanchett cannot wear? And the answer is always no. On anyone else, this Armani Privé gown with an illusion panel, architectural bustle detail along the hip, and jewellike adornments along the plunging neckline would probably look trashy. But on Lady Cate it looks spectacular. For jewels she turned to one of her go-to brands, Pomellato: We loved the one-of-a-kind La Gioia di Pomellato green tourmaline drop earrings, but we truly flipped for the four statement rings—in rose gold and white gold with white diamonds, brown diamonds, blue topaz, lapis, and jet—that she piled on both hands.
Best Diamond Earrings: Jean Smart in Rahaminov Diamonds
We love a brilliant white diamond earring as much as the next person. But we love a colored diamond even more. Actress Jean Smart—a winner for her role in the HBO series Hacks—caught our eye immediately when she made her entrance in a Christian Siriano column gown with a dramatic off-the-shoulder flourish. White diamonds would have been…fine. But those dazzling yellow Rahaminov diamond drops against the maroon dress were absolutely wow-worthy.
Best Necklace: Elle Fanning in Cartier
Looking like a modern-day Marlene Dietrich in black boot-cut tuxedo pants and a blush-toned blouse and vest—by Alessandro Michele for Gucci—Elle Fanning may not have won an award for The Great, but she proved once again why she is a true fashion great. “I just didn’t feel like wearing a dress,” she shrugged on the red—actually, silver—carpet. Plus: The placement of that Cartier morganite pendant necklace is simply perfect.
