The 10 Most Surprising Golden Globes Jewelry Moments
Floral earrings and diamonds over gloves and turtlenecks were just a few of the unexpected celebrity jewelry looks.
Los Angeles—The 80th annual Golden Globe Awards, held Tuesday night in Los Angeles, delivered on the jewelry and fashion front in many ways.
There were glamorous diamond collars galore and directional men’s fashion aplenty. But there were also several unexpected sartorial elements, particularly in the jewelry department.
See them all below.
Emma D’Arcy’s Pinky Ring
Even if you don’t watch “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” Emma D’Arcy may have made their way into your pop culture consciousness via the viral “Negroni Sbagliato” TikTok trend last year.
At the Golden Globes, the actor’s dramatic oversized Acne Studios suit, blue gloves, and blue hair and makeup proved their ability to go viral offstage was no fluke.
While many actors forego rings when wearing red carpet gloves, D’Arcy delighted jewelry lovers with a massive diamond pinky ring.
The ring was the “Enchanted Lotus” high jewelry ring from De Beers, with 5.74 carats of white diamonds set in 18-karat white gold. They paired them with De Beers “Aura” yellow diamond earrings weighing 4.07 carats, also set in 18-karat white gold.

Jenny Slate’s Show-Stealing Earrings
Florals were a Golden Globes 2023 theme, with actors like Eddie Redmayne and Diego Calvo donning bold fabric flowers on their lapels.
Actress and writer Jenny Slate really owned the look with her garden-green Rodarte gown, replete with floral embellishment. The standout element, however, was her Anabela Chan “Citrus Thea” multicolor floral chandelier earrings, which likely featured lab-grown gems per the designer’s signature.
The earrings’ scale and shape were absolutely red-carpet worthy, but it was the color that made them so much more interesting than the typical diamond chandelier earring.
Anya Taylor-Joy’s Double-Cuff Moment
When you’ve arrived, like actress Jessica Chastain, you may forego red carpet jewelry altogether (to the disappointment of jewelry editors everywhere).
But when you’re arriving, and don’t plan on going anywhere, like actress Anya Taylor-Joy, it’s best to announce oneself in layers of jewelry.
While her yellow Christian Dior outfit is likely to divide popular opinion, her bold yellow gold, platinum, and diamond Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger “Hands” matching statement cuffs and collar were dramatic and directional in all the right ways, breaking out of the safe zone and succeeding. The hair and the outfit, arguably, did not.
Wednesday Adams’ Lightened-Up Look
“Wednesday” fans may have dreamed of a high-fashion homage to the series’ titular character but actress Jenna Ortega wouldn’t be typecast.
There wasn’t a hint of goth to be found in her look, just a flowing, Grecian-style Gucci gown, some befuddling “Three’s Company” hair, and fabulous jewelry layers.
Noteworthy were perfectly stacked Tiffany & Co. layered diamond and white gold necklaces hitting around the 15-, 16-, and 18-inch lengths.
Tyler James Williams’ Winning Look
Tyler James Williams has been on our TV screens since childhood, but as of last night, he’s a Golden Globe Award-winning actor with an equally adept fashion sense.
He accented his chic, relaxed pinstripe suit by Amiri with a statement-making diamond brooch.
Julia Garner’s Diamond Homage
“Ozark” actress Julia Garner reliably delivers great red carpet, but in fashion terms, last night’s Globes was her star-making turn.
Her exquisite pink Gucci gown was completely bejeweled in rhinestones, which can leave a bit of a styling conundrum.
Too many actual diamonds and the look is overblown—this is why so many stylists enlist a great pair of earrings and call it a day. Too few and we get the many less-than-memorable jewelry looks we’re used to seeing on major red-carpet events.
But Garner’s stylist Elizabeth Saltzman is a super stylist for a reason. She chose a super-bold De Beers diamond Y-necklace that made a big statement, without overwhelming the dress, plus simple De Beers diamond stud earrings.
The effect was perfect jewelry-gown harmony, the perfect look to take home a Golden Globe.
Hannah Einbinder Giving Perfect 1950s Glamour
Bold diamond collars are oh-so-flattering and deserve plenty of awards show attention—looking at you, Michelle Yeoh.
But Hannah Einbinder’s Globes look took the style for an unexpected spin. The actress was channeling Betty Draper in “Mad Men” in her Carolina Herrera gown and swept-back updo.
The glamorous yet demure pairing of twisting, layered diamond necklaces with stacked diamond tennis bracelets lent just the care and detail to take the overall look to 100 percent. All jewels were from Tiffany & Co.’s “Victoria” collection.
While most would throw on a diamond riviere and call it a day, the meticulous necklace layering and twisting lent so much depth. That’s real jewelry styling.
Jeremy Pope’s Collar-Over-Turtleneck Moment
Men’s fashion has, joyfully, grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years, as witnessed in the far more diverse array of suiting and accessories showcased at the 80th Globes than at award shows past.
Actor Jeremy Pope sported an all-leather turtleneck and suit with chic boots for a glamorous take on “The Matrix” style. Making it evening appropriate was the vintage Cartier “Panthere” necklace in white gold with white diamonds, worn over the turtleneck.
It was arguably more successful than a suit and diamond collar sans any undershirt at all, a la Babyface.
Pope complemented the look with a smattering of Cartier diamond rings.
Michaela Jaé Rodriguez’s ‘70s Glamour
Best known for her Golden Globe-award winning work in “Pose,” Michaela Jaé Rodriguez pulled out all the stops with her Pomellato collar and earrings.
The asymmetric 18-karat rose gold collar has oversized 18-karat white gold and diamond links. You may have been able to see this fun, retro-inspired jewelry look from a mile away, but few (this editor included) saw it coming.
Diamond hoops were the perfect complement.
Rihanna in Cartier
Rihanna is a jewelry lover on and off the world’s biggest stages. A lover of vintage, she’s often spotted in pieces curated by Briony Raymond, while her personal collection includes bohemian styles from the likes of Jacquie Aiche.
Nominated for her “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” ballad, Rih wore a Cartier “Sixième” high jewelry necklace in 18-karat white gold and diamonds (pictured at top of article), with Cartier high jewelry platinum and diamond earrings.
Rihanna in fabulous jewelry shouldn’t be a surprise, but her skipping the red carpet and showing up in the Globes audience in jaw-dropping diamonds still managed to be a shock.
